Wind Powered Energy Production for Rural Communities
University of Nairobi, KenyaSmall coastal towns along the banks of Lake Victoria have very poor water quality and no electricity. Collaborative student design teams were formed to undertake a market analysis and a preliminary study of the potential for the development of a wind powered system to provide both clean water as well as electricity to the villages. Collaborations between the communities, Penn State, and the University of Nairobi were developed and continue to address this problem.
