Portable milk drying apparatus
University of Technology, JamaicaDue to extreme competition form the European Union and from the United States, the dairy industry in Jamaica has been severely impacted. The number of dairy farms has decreased from 3000 to 400 farms in a little over 12 years. In an attempt to salvage some market share, the Penn State and UTech students were asked to examine possible methods of drying milk to powder using a low-cost, portable, and safe system that could be transported to the individual farms and implemented.
